Attractive and great easy use features

The chef double oven is very attractive. Features are easily used and explained well via the Internet. This was a little disappointing in the fact that there isn't a hardcopy guide that is provided by GE. They did fine. The preheating takes a bit more time than our previous of the oven. This may be a result of the fact that this is a 30 amp requirement and the old one was 40 amp. All in all, we're very satisfied.

Received our cafe oven yesterday. I opened the oven doors only to find that the coating was flaking off from inside of the doors where the screws were installed. One area had at least an inch of coating missing that will only get worse with time. Extremely disappointed in quality control and craftsmanship.

The oven works as expected, heats up and holds the temperature. But the user experience could be better. From the front panel you can only turn on/off the lights for both ovens and not individually like you can do from the iPhone app. The app also frequently loses contact with the oven, forcing you delete the oven from the app and reconnect it. Also, the the app communicates with oven through GE's servers, meaning without Internet connection you can't use the app to control or monitor the oven.

So far the oven lives up to the billing; easy to use relative to controls, very attractive, functions perfectly and has enough capacity. The only problem at this point are the extension racks, which are extremely difficult to remove. This problem is apparently known since the manual recommends using vegetable oil on the support racks to help with removal.

Oven worked we'll for 5 days.My wife self cleaned bottom oven.It has not worked since. Interior lights stay on ,light icon is gone.Oven will not preheat says oven doors are open. With the oven off top oven stays at 130° and bottom oven stays at 110°.Now we have no way to cook our meals. Very disappointed I spent $4000 on a new oven and now I can't cook my Easter dinner that I had planned for 23 family members

Roller racks scratches paint when adjusted

The rolling racks supports are so tight they scratch off the paint when they are inserted and changed in position. The installer pushed them in . When we adjusted we used cooking oil to lubricate but is still very tight and will probably scratch if moved

Best wall ovens I have ever used! We did a kitchen remodel a little over a year ago at our old home and put in new double wall ovens during that remodel that were not Cafe ovens and hated them from day one. Fast-forward a year and we moved into our new to us home that was built in the 80™€™s with the original appliances!! It was a 27 inch model so we were limited with options for double wall ovens for a smaller cabinet. We decided to go with the Cafe brand after reading reviews and could not be more pleased with our decision! Very spacious for a 27 inch oven with even cooking and browning. Functional and beautiful!

Quality double oven with great features

Great double oven that perfectly fits a half sheet pan on each rack. The convection bake, convection roast, and convection bake multi-rack features on the upper oven have roasted my meats and veggies very evenly and retained the moisture more than the normal bake function. Note the lower oven doesn't have convection, but that's standard on most double ovens. The smart oven features to start pre-heating your oven remotely is great, as well as setting a cook time so the oven automatically turns off at the end of the set time.

Ovens are a waste of money - don't buy

Bought the ovens as part of a total kitchen renovation. BIG REGRET. The upper oven convection is a joke - aside from the ovens taking an overly long time to preheat, the supposed advantage of cooking convection is nonexistent. The racks in the upper oven which we now learned can't be replaced by regular racks, are dangerous and take up usable space. I had Bosch double ovens in my other home but had to move down to a 27" double oven in my new place so I couldn't get Bosch. Do not buy these Cafe ovens - they are crap - go with Bosch.

The Cafe is a very nice high-end oven. We replaced an older basic GE oven - since CAFE products are part of GE, the installation into this space was easy as the dimensions are similar. The CAFE oven works great, with nice features like slide out racks and meat temp probes. The CAFE appliance has a very classic commercial look that improve the look of any kitchen.

Love the display on the oven. Even tells me the weather. Convection doesn™€™t leave the fan on. It turns off and on ™€œas needed™€ to circulate the air. Air fry leaves the fan on. Tried the temperature probe on corn beef roast to 160F. It was not done when the temperature reached this point. Took another 45 minutes. One other problem is trying to cancel the timer. Haven™€™t figured that out yet.

Cooks well, interface needs work

The oven itself cooks well - the lower star rating is due to the electronic interface itself. The racks, convection, and aesthetics of the oven are great. The problem are the obvious UI failures that make it far more difficult to operate the oven than needed. For example, if you start a timer, you can't CHANGE the timer amount (and attempting to cancel the timer also turns off the oven). Because it's a touchscreen, steam makes it difficult to operate. More concerningly, I have needed to cut the power to the oven multiple times in order to "reset it" since the UI locks up on the panel. Specifically, attempting to use Sabbath Mode will result in the interface getting "stuck" with no way to resolve it (even using the separate application).

Good features but some flaws in the user interface

The oven works well. Everything we've done has come out well. I really like the convection and the proofing features. There are, however, a few flaws that should be corrected. The most annoying is that the touch screen is not responsive enough -- you often have to stab at it many times to get it to respond. It would be nice to have more than 1 timer and to be able to set the timer from the app.

We are very pleased with this new oven. It cooks well and evenly. It has a nice an air fryer option which is the size of the whole upper oven so I can cook a lot for my big family. The only criticism I would have is that it is awkward to add more time to the timer when you find that you need something to stay in a little longer. Otherwise, this is a great oven.

This GE Cafe 27 inch double oven is a welcome addition to our kitchen and a terrific complement to our suite of other GE Cafe appliances. The oven simply works and it works well. Based on the performance of our previous oven, which was only a few years old, these ovens pre-heat faster, cook more evenly, and look much nicer. We love the convection feature and the newly added air-fry feature that was installed with the very first software update. My personal favorite feature is the ability to pre-heat the oven from my phone. We have yet to try the wired temperature probe, but if it works as well as the other features, I™€™m sure it will become a favorite as well. The only negatives we™€™ve experienced so far are relatively minor, nothing more than a nuisance which should be corrected on subsequent models. 1. Why do both oven lights not work independently? Not the biggest concern but annoying nonetheless. 2. Make the terrific sliding racks easier to remove and install. Each time they are installed or removed it tends to scratch the sides of the oven. A potential design flaw which could lead to premature and unnecessary damage over time. With that being said, I do not want to end on a negative note. Temperature is too inconsistant

The oven temp is often wrong, but more frustrating, is inconsistent. If you adjust the temp for one use, it isn't the same next time you bake. My wife does a lot of baking and complains about it either being too hot or too cold.

New Cafe 27-inch double wall oven

The ovens are very stylish looking. The appearance is just as nice as some of the more expensive brands. I would have preferred black, but the 27 inch only came in stainless steel. I am very happy with its features, and it cooks everything I make just right. I would have scored it much higher except when I bake, broil or whatever the clock disappears on the screen. It is very inconvenient not to have a clock face on the oven while cooking. Most items require to be cooked for a certain time and I have to check a different clock face to monitor the time. The oven has a clock when it is not in use, but it disappears when baking, broiling, etc. I have since added a wall clock in my kitchen near the oven so I can properly time my cooking or baking.

I love these ovens. They heat quickly., the controls are very simple, foods cooked evenly and the look great next to my Cafe refrigerator. We tested this baby out at Thanksgiving and everything cooked nicely. And all the cookies we™€™ve been baking have turned out great. And added bonus of the changing pictures on the front!!!

Oven is easy to use and cooks well. I™€™ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but loved using the meat thermometer for our Thanksgiving turkey and used convection baking for my Christmas cookies.

The 27™€ Cafe double ovens work fine, but there™€™s no reason I can see for their high price. They do not have the desirable modern features of their 30™€ sibling, and I have lost features I had on my much less expensive Jenn-Air version that finally died after 25 years. I do miss having two timers, and it is slow and clunky, requiring several steps, to set the one timer. This doesn™€™t make much difference if you™€™re setting it for 40 minutes, but it definitely impacts things when you™€™re doing a quick 2 minute pan sear. Also, it is pretty slow at preheating.

I love that it has a WiFi connection. I can preheat the oven even if I'm not at home. I love that it has a timer, the sliding racks to easily check my food... hands down awesome!
