Even though this was an emergency purchase because our Kenmore Freezer Chest just died after 40+ years, We found out that Whirlpool made the Kenmore line and it makes the Amana also. We feel good about our purchase. It fits the new space perfectly. It is nice to have an upright freezer at our age. The inner space is great and my wife enjoys the ease of organization. Hoping for another 40 years of great performance.

We purchased this 15.7 cu ft upright freezer about two months ago, replacing a 40+ YO 17 cu ft upright freezer that recently failed.
The most important factors in choosing this freezer were it's physical dimensions (had to fit in the same tight space beneath our basement stairs) and its interior capacity (15.7 cu ft is close to our old freezer's 17 cu ft).
It fits fine, and is working well so far (~3 weeks). Unfortunately, the new freezer only came with 3 shelves (molded side mounts available for 2 more shelves). Deducted one * from the rating for lack of shelves (and b/c the retail cost to order an additional shelf is $153 (maybe some day, but NOT TODAY when it's new and we're just filling it up. Also, solid-state push-button thermostat limits user to only 3 settings: cold, colder, deep-freeze.

There is a blinking light that has no identification on it. It came on when we lost power for a few minutes. If they have a light, they should have the info for what the light is for! I'm worried it was an over temp alarm?

I bought this a few weeks ago, replacing my Sears freezer that was still working but was 26 years old and constant running. My only complaint was because I am a senior on disability, I compared yours to a few others and I chose Amanda. I purchased it by phone, it was delivered and placed in my garage wher my old one was, I asked that the freezer door opens from Right to left because of my car in the garage I can™™t access it from the other way. The delivery guy said the door can be opened from either side. They left, learned that it opened the wrong way, they said I could change it myself but I am in no condition to lift door and switch hinges, so now I am stuck having to move my car when opening the freezer door. This really is my fault, I guess but I can™™t find a young person to switch the hinges, so I am very unhappy with my purchase

I bought this freezer a few weeks ago, I have only one complaint, I wanted it to open from right side to left, when they delivered it, I am a senior citizen with disability, I watched them just place it in the garage when my old one was and didn™™t realize the door opens the wrong way, I cannot switch the door hinges because of my poor health and can™™t find anyone to do it for me, I know it™™s not hard but I can™™t do it myself. It really bothers me because my wife™™s car blocks the door to open wide.

We have had the freezer for about 9 months now. Easy set up. Freezes well. Was a bit loud in the beginning, but was not an issue for us as it is located in our garage. Over time the noise level has dropped off. When near it, you can tell it is running, but all sounds normal to me. I would buy again.

have had this freezer for sometime and have had nothing but trouble with frost all down the back, freezes the fan up and makes a horrible noise. technician has shown me how to defrost that but only last about 3 weeks till i have to repeat. Can only fill shelves about one third full. No I would not recommend this product.

Freezer seems solid, the only issue is the shelves are kind of weak. I put frozen meat from half of our beef and the shelves bow. They need to be made sturdier.

We purchased this freezer to supplement our refrigerator/freezer currently over stocked. This is a good resolution to our problem as it is easy to access the foods as well as not overly large. We have it in our garage along with the refrigerator/freezer and are pleased with their compatibility. The freezer keeps the temperature between 1 - 3Ë F. which is just right.

Whirlpool delivered this freezer. Upon moving it into place and getting it ready to plug it in, we noticed that on the back of the freezer, there was a section of paint missing and the paint around that was bubbled and had rust already on the back. Not too impressed with that. It also became alarmingly HOT when we first plugged it in. (The plug was jammed up under the bottom of the freezer and had one prong of the plug bent™¦.) but it™™s doing what we bought it for. It™™s keeping things frozen so I guess it™™s what we expected. Just surprised at the lack of quality on the paint.

This upright freezer is essential for a shared living space for the harmony of the kitten. It is frost free, preventing maintenance as muc. Also, because it is upright, everything is accessible, prevent unnecessary rummaging. Additionally, 16 cubic feet wasn't too tall for the entry way. The metal racks are preferred over glass racks and the LED light works great! Overall, if purchased during a sale, this freezer is attainable for nearly all households.

Our new freezer is the perfect size. It is large but unobtrusive, taking a small footprint of space in our basement. Features like frost free and self closing door are premium to me. It can hold a lot of frozen products and storage in the door increases its capacity. Having a high energy-saving rating only enamored us more with this appliance.

I bought this freezer a 6 or 7 months ago. The door hasn't shut properly in 3-4 months. I have repeatedly called to get service after 40 + minutes on hold each time still no appointment. The customer service representative tells me she can't make appointments out that far and transfers me. With another 43 minutes on hold I am done. I will never buy this brand again, that I grew up with. After the second freezer full of food has went bad because of this door. You can't get service they just keep putting you off I guess until the warranty is gone so you can pay to have it fixed. Never again

It's very small and I'm OK with that, but it's ridiculous that I had to buy 2 shelves to go into it to make more storage. The shelves are so far apart and you'd have to pile food up so high that you'd never find anything. I think you should add 2 more shelves for the $$$$$ this cost.

Bought this freezer in October. No problems with anything or filling it up. Great garage freezer for our winter venison. Their response wwas call amana, i did after an hour on hold finally talked to someone they would send someone out that was 2 months ago still waiting. Also ruined everything we puut in it, no reimbursement for faulty freezer. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!

Lots of room, very quiet. Reason for lower rating as I am leery of a red flashing light that comes on behind the controller plastic. No one can tell me why! Not my dealer, Amana costumer service or tech. It has came on 3 times in two months. Have to unplug, let sit for a few minutes and plug back in before it goes out. Just waiting for a failure. RED means an issue! Also wish it had a door lock!

First upright freezer I have ever purchased. I have always had chest freezers in the past. Never again! I absolutely love my upright freezer. I can find everything at a glance. No more food shifting to the bottom. The lighting in the Amana freezer is so bright. It makes finding the item you want so easy. I would definitely buy an upright again if in need of another freezer. The Amana Freezer appears to be a well-built unit as compared to other manufacters but within the one-year warranty period the freezer is having electronic control issues. The repairman indicated that there is a nationwide backlog on the part. In the meantime, if the freezer control panel fails any further, I may lose $1,500.00 worth of meats...

All appliances are so expensive now, just like this "little" jewel was. We were lucky to find it in stock at our local appliance dealer, as we needed one badly. The blue tape they tape it up with is exceptionally strong. Evidently there was a bad spot in the paint on the back so some paint pulled off when removing the tape. I super glued it back down and covered with some white fingernail polish just so it doesn't rust if any condensate builds up on the outside or it gets some moisture down in the basement. My unit had some scratches and dings on it. I know that it was like that from the factory, since I removed it from the box myself. I did not mind it, it is just a tool for keeping food frozen, not a show piece. This unit needs to come with some more shelving, only has a couple of shelves. It forces you to stack things up really high and then it all slides out in the floor after my kids stock it wrong. My mother and father bought one a few days after I did and it was in really good shape, no peeling paint and dings/scratches like mine. I swapped the door around for them on their unit, that was pretty simple to do if you are handy with tools and such.
